Europe isn't all culture and history, there is also much to do for sports fans, not only football but also racing, cycling, athletics, swimming and tennis.

If you have been to one of our cities and would like to share with us your experiences with the sports culture there or if your favorite sports team has its basis in one of these European cities, please feel free to suggest an article. and share your experiences with us and our readers.

In the mean time, while visiting Europe, enjoy the different sports events and sports clubs.

San Siro - MilánWhen in Milán, make sure you watch the AC Milán at the famous San Siro. Tickets for most matches are available in advance or on the day. As many as 60 matches per year are played in San Siro and there are more than 80 000 places.

Manchester is famous all over Europe thanks to its two world-class football clubs, Manchester United and Manchester City. In Manchester a sports fan should certainly visit Sportcity . Sportcity is located to the east of the city centre, about 45 minutes' walk from Piccadilly Station. It was built to host most of the events for the 2002 Commonwealth Games and is home to the National Cycling Centre, Manchester City FC and other important sporting venues.

Atenas hosted the first modern-day Olympic Games and, more recently, of the  2004 Summer Olympic Games which, to the defiance of critics, were a spectacular success.

Estudiantes - MadridAlso Madrid is famous for football and sports. Two teams from Madrid play in the Spanish Premier Division, Atletico de Madrid (at Vicente Calderón stadium) and Real Madrid  (at Santiago Bernabeu stadium). In basketball, there are also two major teams, Estudiantes and Real Madrid. Another important sports event held in October is Madrid Tennis Masters series, where the best ATP tennis players participate. More info about Madrid TMS.
